A brilliant primary school teacher identified as Alex Diasgranados, has wins a teacher of the year award and Naira Two Million cash reward.
Congratulations are in order for an elementary school teacher, Alex Diasgranados, who was surprised with a Teacher of the Year award and a N23 million ($50k) cash reward.
Diasgranados was surprised with the National University 2021 Teacher of the Year award alongside the huge sum when he appeared on a National TV show.
Addressed as Mr. Dias in the classroom, he was also named as one of the four finalists for the National Teacher of the Year award, an award recognized by the President of the United States at the White House.
A Historical Studies and English Teacher, Diasgranados had previously won the N3.8 million ($10,000) Sanford Teacher Award in 2022.
He was also named DC’s Teacher of the year 2021 which came with a N3.4 million ($7,500) cash prize.
Diasgranados was emotional as he spoke about his 4th and 5th pupils, “they really inspire me and keep me going every single day”.
Aside from receiving the $50k Award, all the National University System’s universities have stated their willingness to provide Diasgranados with a full PhD scholarship degree in education or a master’s in Social and emotional learning.
A Facebook user identified as Joanne Merry congratulate the primary school teacher, Alex Diasgranados by saying “Yes, he IS brilliant and I hope he continues to be celebrated for the incredible work he does as a teacher to kids at their most vulnerable ages!!”
